Post-research funding from us

Post-research funding from us

Introduction

The Churchill Fellowship offers grants of up to £500 to support Fellows in testing, implementing and disseminating the findings and recommendations from their Fellowship activities.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Running a pilot programme.
  • Returning to visit specific projects (for the purpose of dissemination or implementation, rather than research).
  • Promotion of Fellowship findings (including through the media or at conferences).
  • Partnership development.
  • Network development.
  • Fellowship Report design, printing and distribution.

Please note that we are unable to reimburse chargeable time.

Application criteria

  • Fellows must demonstrate a committed approach to taking their recommendations forward and outline a plan for this that is realistic and achievable, with concrete activities.
  • Applications should make clear the intended changes in practice or awareness that are anticipated from the work, and who the key audiences or participants will be.
  • Applications must include a breakdown of all costs for the proposed activities. If the total cost of the project exceeds £500, please indicate clearly which parts of the budget the Churchill Fellowship will be funding.
  • Fellows are asked to provide details of any proposed partner organisations that are to be involved in the activities, as well as match funding (this is for our own records and will not affect the application).
  • Fellows applying for publishing fees for publication in an academic journal must be either single or first author and must be the named recipient of the journal’s invoice. The Churchill Fellowship must be credited in the article as a funder.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You are a Churchill Fellow of 2016 or later.
  • You have completed your Fellowship research.
  • Your Fellow’s Report was approved by the Fellowship team less than 12 months ago. (Fellows who choose for their reports not to be published on the website are still eligible for funding.)
  • You are resident in the UK.
  • You have not previously received a post-research funding award from the Churchill Fellowship.
  • Your proposed activities will take place within 12 months of application.
  • Your proposed activities have not yet commenced. We are unable to offer retrospective funding.

Submission process

  • You will receive an email invitation to apply to the fund once your report has been approved/uploaded. You are required to submit the online application form within 12 months of receiving this email.
  • The outcome of your application will be provided by email within one month of submission.
  • If you are unsuccessful in your application you may reapply, either for a similar project (taking into consideration any feedback given) or with a new project.
