July 2023 Fellow's update: Richard Wakelin

Richard expands on why there are grounds for optimism as reading education in prisons improves.

July 2023 Fellow's update: Alex South

Former prison officer, Alex South (CF 2017) has written a book about her time as a prison officer called 'Behind These Doors'. It was recently serialised in the Sunday Times and selected as a Radio 4 Book of the Week. Alex also spoke on 'Womans Hour'about it in July and appeared in The Guardian. The final chapter of the book is about her Fellowship and the incredible experiences she had abroad.

July 2023 Fellow's update: David Stanley

David Stanley (CF 2019) recently led an accessible music session at 10 Downing Street for Westminster primary school pupils, attended by the Prime Minister's wife and the Prime Minister. He also toured San Diego, performed at the Royal Albert Hall with His Majesty's Bands of The Royal Marines, and received the Freedom of the City of Southend-On-Sea for his music education charity supporting people with learning disabilities.

July 2023 Fellow's update: Nina Smith

Former teacher, Nina Smith (CF 2023) has appeared in a couple of media outlets this month. Nina lost her younger brother to suicide and recounts her experience and hopes for the future in the articles from InYourArea.co.uk and Leigh Observer and Skem News. Nina will be travelling to Australia and the USA to explore school-based suicide prevention strategies.
