Fraud investigation
1995
South West
I am currently retired but at the time of my Fellowship in 1995 I was a detective chief inspector in the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Fraud Squad awaiting promotion to Superintendent as the head of Internal Affairs.
I travelled to the USA and Australia to study the methods used by police and other agencies in the investigation of serious fraud, including that with an international element. I was particularly interested in this sphere of work as I had long experience of fraud investigation, including the use of interception of communications legislation and international fraud.
Soon after my Fellowship, my career took a different path but my findings were well received in certain quarters. My Fellowship brought me into contact with like-minded people in the USA and Australia, two of whom I keep in touch with to this day.
