Imaging the brain in mental illness
2007
East of England
I am currently a consultant psychiatrist at Fulbourn Hospital in Cambridge. I am also a clinical tutor and MRCPsych Course Lead at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. In addition, I am an associate lecturer at the School of Clinical Medicine at Cambridge University and a college research associate at Wolfson College in Cambridge.
I undertook my Churchill Fellowship in the USA in 2007. My project related to imaging of the brain in mental illness. The idea of the Fellowship was to explore new techniques in the field as used in specialist research centres in the USA. At the time I was interested in the neuroscience and biological psychiatry and was completing a DPhil at Oxford University.
Since then my interests have developed and range from medical education to medical humanities and psychopharmacology. My Fellowship and my training in the neurosciences are helping me in my current undertaking as a volume editor for an upcoming Cambridge Prescriber's Guide.
