Biography
I am a lead researcher at King's College London. My work focuses on exploring the tumour microenvironment and immune responses in various cancer types. I have a keen interest in utilising artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for healthcare advancements. My previous work involved using ML to identify cancer risks in patients, which sparked my interest in the broader applications of these technologies. I believe that the use of AI has the power to transform healthcare.
The focus of my Fellowship is to understand how AI and ML are being integrated into healthcare in other advanced countries. Despite the NHS ambitions, current ML platforms are only 30% efficient, posing challenges in data quality, clinician training and biases in algorithmic decision-making. Through my Fellowship, I will explore how advanced healthcare systems have overcome limitations of ML, leveraging transformative potential to enhance UK healthcare through innovation and patient-centred approaches. I aim to share these insights with my colleagues and the wider medical community in the UK, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes and an efficient healthcare system.
