I am a freelance journalist, founder of The Forgiveness Project charity, and I've spent the past 17 years of my working life investigating how those who have experienced the most devastating things in life find a way through. The Forgiveness Project works with lived experience, and at the heart of everything we do is storytelling.
My Fellowship took me to Canada and the USA where I studied restorative approaches in the context of recovering from crime and harm within community, personal and prison settings. I wanted to learn about peaceful solutions to harm and especially wherever it involved narrative and restorative justice.
The main thrust of my work now is writing, teaching, podcasting and public speaking. The Fellowship has helped me enormously in formulating opinions, providing me with concrete examples of 'what works', and knowledge of processes which address injustice and healing. I frequently use material gathered during my five weeks away in every area of my work.
