As a business adviser, I work with people who want to build businesses to change the world for good, aka social entrepreneurs. As a social business expert at the Cambridge Judge Business School, I work with entrepreneurs who are thinking about starting new businesses and those in the first few years of doing so. I also work directly with entrepreneurs whose social businesses are past start-up and are looking to focus on sustainable growth.
My Fellowship was about how to scale impact and legacy social enterprises (social firms, or work integration social enterprises - WISE) built to provide employment for those most disadvantaged in the market. Goodwill industries have supported more than 20 million people into work over more than 100 years, whilst focusing on employment and trading income.
I found that sharing my Fellow's Report helps give other social entrepreneurs hope that it is possible to grow a business that changes the world and has longevity. I have been building a website community around resources and training that share my Report and its associated findings further.
Being a Churchill Fellow has inspired me by connecting me to others who are seeking to share learning and knowledge globally.
