I am a senior lecturer in the School of Education, Language and Psychology at York St John University. My research focuses on postgraduate transitions from higher education to employment for emerging adults on the autism spectrum. I have, however, also conducted studies on levels of autism knowledge in schools, autism provision mapping across the UK higher education sector and the sensory experiences of autistic adults.

My Fellowship focused on identifying good practice in relation to postgraduate employment for autistic university students across North America. This was the springboard to the development of a number of training workshops among professionals in a range of sectors and industries in the UK and beyond. The Covid-19 Action Fund has enabled me to develop, with autistic and professional collaborators, an online course to develop employment capabilities among autistic students and graduates.

The impact of these two outcomes is still ongoing. However, there is some evidence to show improvements among employers' perceptions towards autism and increased likelihood that they will hire an autistic person in the future.
