Biography
My professional practice is rooted in creative and cultural education, with nearly 20 years' experience working in programme delivery and leadership roles, I am a passionate advocate for children and young people.
My Fellowship explores how significant research and investment in creative placemaking in the USA (particularly the 10-year Artplace programme) has helped to develop the role of children and young people in shaping their local communities. I will share my learning with cultural and place leaders across the UK, with the aim of influencing both policy and practice and raising the profile of children and young people within local decision-making, planning and community development. As well as being a key stakeholder group within our communities here and now, children and young people are the future producers, consumers and custodians of public space and therefore vital for achieving locally owned and sustainable change.
