Creating the first UK infectious diseases transplantation service
Creating a dedicated transplant infection service by understanding risks and responses
2019
I am an infectious diseases clinician and clinical researcher.
My Fellowship was about establishing the best infection training in order to more effectively treat people with low immune systems for complex infections. I am very interested in this as I find that low immune states become more common with the ageing of the population.
For my Fellowship, I travelled to a centre of excellence in the United States and accumulated information on US and Canadian training regarding infectious diseases for low immune states. As a result of my Fellowship, I am in the process of organising a special training pathway for my medical trainees as well as a network of interested infection specialists in the UK.
