Biography
An experienced non-executive, specialising in sustainability and the environment, I am currently a trustee of the Scottish Power Foundation and Chair of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS), supporting over 1,000 professionals to be brilliant at what they do. I'm a lifelong advocate for the natural environment, with over 30 years' experience of embedding sustainability at the heart of corporate and public sector decision-making across the UK, Europe and India.
I've led projects as diverse as fuel poverty, community investment, environment biotechnology and clean energy. I'm an advocate for collaboration and through my Fellowship I was able to learn new ideas, share best practice and establish networks that have shaped my career.
In 1992 I travelled to Eastern Europe to focus on clean technology – then a relatively new concept – and the environment. I subsequently led a government research programme on this subject and co-edited a book, Clean Technology and the Environment (Kirkwood and Longley, 1995).
More recently I've combined my passions for gardening and nature to deliver rewilding projects in Wiltshire.
