Our Ambassadors
Introduction
Over the years we have been immensely proud and privileged to have the support of leading figures in society to support and promote our work. Our Ambassadors offer their support without being renumerated and share their knowledge and networks with us.
Our Ambassadors are:
Baroness Young of Hornsey OBE
Baroness Lola Young is a leading voice in social campaigning, arts and culture. In 2004, she was appointed an independent Crossbench member of the House of Lords. She has served on the boards of several national cultural organisations including the National Theatre, the Southbank Centre, and the publishing house, Bloomsbury.
Previously a Commissioner for Historic England, Baroness Young has Chaired the Caine Prize for African Writing, the Orange Prize for Women’s Fiction, and the Man Booker Prize. In 2024, she published her memoir “Eight Weeks” (Penguin) which detailed her journey from foster care in 1960s London to being one of the first Black women in the House of Lords.
Baroness Grey-Thompson of Eaglescliffe, DBE CF
Baroness Grey-Thompson (known as Tanni Grey-Thompson) was born and brought up in Cardiff. As a Paralympic athlete, competing for Great Britain at five Paralympic Games, she won 11 gold medals, 4 silver and 1 bronze and holds 35 world records.
Her 1993 Churchill Fellowship explored how sports programmes in Australia worked with Disabled athletes from grass roots to elite level.
She was elevated to the House of Lords in 2010 as a Crossbench Peer. Tanni uses her experience and knowledge on a range of issues including Disability Rights, Welfare Reform, and Sport.
John Elkington CF
John Elkington is known as a world authority on corporate responsibility and sustainable capitalism. A bestselling author and highly regarded thought leader, he is also founder and chief pollinator of think-tank and advisory group Volans.
John became a Churchill Fellow 1981. He researched the environmental industry and its role in implementing the World Conservation Strategy. He has written and co-authored 21 books, including the million-selling Green Consumer Guide, Cannibals with Forks: The Triple Bottom Line of 21st Century Business and Tickling Sharks: How We Sold Business on Sustainability.
