Patrick Vernon marked Windrush Day with a tribute at Hackney Council’s official event, where he led a one-minute silence in memory of the Windrush Pioneers. The remembrance included a tribute to Nellie Louise Brown, who passed away recently at the age of 111, with members of her family in attendance.
He also wrote a powerful reflection for Windrush100, honouring the lives and legacies of those lost and calling for a renewed commitment to recording and celebrating this vital part of British history.
