Sharon McPherson (CF 2023) has continued to build on her Churchill Fellowship through a series of major research and practice initiatives in kinship care.
She has contributed as a peer researcher to national studies including Raised by Relatives and a co-produced toolkit to improve peer researcher involvement in kinship care research.
She is now leading the next phase of work through the Foundations study (January 2026 – March 2027), which includes funded peer researcher roles and a strong co-production model.
Alongside this, Sharon is partnering with Cardiff University to lead new racialised research into the support needs of mixed heritage kinship care children, with a research team made up predominantly of Experts by Experience and young peer researchers from minoritised communities.
