Mike Spencer (CF 2025) reflected on the first year since beginning his Churchill Fellowship travels across the USA and Canada, and the progress of his pioneering work using Eurasian otters to locate missing people in water.
He has continued proof-of-concept trials, shared his research with search and rescue organisations and other agencies, and won Innovator of the Year at the Global Search & Rescue Excellence Awards. Mike also reflected on the personal significance of sharing his Fellowship travels with his wife Niki, who sadly died earlier this year, and her enduring support for his work.
