Biography

I am currently working as a climbing gym owner and mountaineering instructor, while continuing to paint in my spare time. My Fellowship was to explore and record the legacy of the whaling industry in South Georgia. The industrial remains that are being left there to deteriorate under the harsh climate represent not only a dark aspect of environmental destruction but also a vanished way of life and community. My social media postings have, I hope, raised awareness of this fast-disappearing heritage and will have assisted organisations devoted to the preservation of this heritage.

Since my Churchill Fellowship I have continued to paint, had several paintings accepted in exhibitions and held a one-man show. The Fellowship really kick-started my artistic career. Moving forward, I hope to devote more of my time to art professionally.
