Biography
I am the National Curator of Contemporary Art at Forestry England, with over 20 years' experience leading arts programming in natural environments. I have managed one of the UK's largest outdoor art collections, commissioned site-specific sculptures, and curated key exhibitions such as David Nash: Return to the Forest and The Lumberjill Story. I have initiated innovative commissioning and co-design projects such as Digital Forest and Nature Now, and continue to pilot new ways of engaging audiences. I also led the mass participation project Faces of Forestry and the completion of We the Forest, Forestry England's first publication for children aged 8-11.
Building on this experience, my Fellowship will enable me to explore best practices in commissioning inclusive contemporary art that fosters meaningful connections between people and nature. I will research how international cultural institutions use art to engage audiences with climate change, biodiversity, and resilience - especially through underrepresented voices. My goal is to grow knowledge to inspire environmental stewardship, and promote nature connectedness.
