Biography
I am a highly specialist speech and language therapist working in Hackney, London. While I work with a broad range of needs, I specialise in Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), a common but under-recognised condition. I am passionate about communication as a right and love working with extraordinary children and families who often struggle to be heard.
Despite affecting over 7 per cent of children, DLD is too often missed and misunderstood and is associated with lower academic and psychosocial outcomes. Yet with the right support individuals with DLD can make fantastic progress. My Fellowship enables me to visit multiple sites in Australia to investigate innovative ways in which education and health services can collaborate to raise awareness and support the needs of children with DLD.
I am thrilled to be a recipient of this wonderful opportunity to learn from international colleagues and families, and to use my experiences to improve the provision for children with DLD in the UK.
