Biography
I am a public affairs and campaigns professional at the Royal British Legion, a veteran and a stand-up comedian. My Fellowship focuses on how stand-up comedy - through learning and performing - can support veterans' mental health and recovery.
I will visit the USA and Canada to explore how comedy is used both as a creative tool for recovery and as an awareness-raising method to reduce stigma around veterans' mental health. As a performer and veteran, I'm passionate about combining comedy with mental health recovery support to create safe spaces where veterans can connect, heal, share their stories, and perform to raise awareness.
Through this Fellowship, I aim to bring back practical ideas, data, insights and financing methods to help develop stand-up comedy-based programmes in the UK that empower veterans, improve wellbeing and raise public understanding of veterans' mental health in a financially sustainable way.
