Applications for Fellowships open in September 2023
We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday 12 September we will be opening once again for applications for Churchill Fellowships.
A Churchill Fellowship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover new ideas and best practice from around the world in order to make change happen in the UK in an issue you care about. Read on to find out more.
In September, we will be inviting applications for Fellowships to be undertaken between August 2024 – July 2025.
A Fellowship funds you to spend between 4-8 weeks learning from leading practitioners, innovators and experts overseas on a subject of your choice and then to use that learning to develop solutions for the UK. It can be carried out in person or online. We then help you to share and implement your learning with your sector or community here.
"Churchill Fellowships are open to all UK adult citizens regardless of their age, qualifications or background."
This year we will be inviting applications for projects within the following programmes:
- Arts and communities.
- Caring for our natural environment.
- Children and young people with experience of care.
- Climate change.
- Education in schools.
- Palliative and end of life care.
- Physical activity for healthier lives.
- Resilient economies and communities.
- Tech for all.
There will be an open option for applicants whose projects fall outside of this range. More details will be shared on this in due course.
“We are delighted to be reopening for applications for Churchill Fellowships,” said Chief Executive Julia Weston. “Every year we are inspired by the passion and determination of Churchill Fellows to make a difference, supported by the knowledge and ideas acquired through their Fellowship research. We look forward to welcoming applications in September from UK citizens with a vision for change in their community or profession.”
"The Fellowship experience is life-changing for many. In our 2022 survey, 100% of Fellows said they would recommend applying for a Fellowship."
Churchill Fellowships are open to all UK adult citizens regardless of their age, qualifications or background. They are awarded on potential and we prioritise those who would not receive funding from other sources. We encourage applications from people who are disabled, who are neurodiverse, who have mental health problems, or who are from under-served communities, and we will do our best to provide any additional support you may need.
The Fellowship experience is life-changing for many. In our annual survey of Fellows’ impact, the majority report significant growth in their knowledge, networks, confidence and standing – and projects that may have started with local aspirations have often grown to national scale. In our 2022 survey, 100% of Fellows said they would recommend applying for a Fellowship.
Applications will open on Tuesday 12 September 2023 and close on Tuesday 14 November at 5pm.
